Baidu is the most popular engine search in China at this
moment. It is known among users as “China’s Google”. It was created by Robin Li
in January 2000. Baidu’s interface is easy to understand and visualize. Users
can choose among 8 initial categories above search box: News, Website, Posted
it, Know, Music, Picture, Video, and Map. The system works through Boolean
search. However, Baidu offers a list of over 80 products covering a variety of
fields, such as the legal field. All services and products are organized by
categories:
- Community Service (i.e. Library online);
- Game Entertaining (i.e. Baidu Application);
- Navigation Service (i.e. Baidu Buy);
- Search Service (i.e. Badu Map)
- Software tools (i.e. Baidu Recorder);
- Webmasters and Developer Services (i.e. Baidu Promotion);
A complete list with all services and products can be
accessed at http://www.baidu.com/more/.
You will have to access Google, and then type this link info. Otherwise, the
website will come up in Chinese.
I did a little search using the term Education. My first
option for my search was Web, and of course, a list of articles was given from
different websites. Then, I switch to Picture, and got the expected results.
